The concept of atom, of infinitely small and absolutely indivisible, has accompanied man since the beginning of the systematization process of his thought and understanding of Nature, from the dawn of philosophy and natural science to the present day. Nowadays, we believe we have achieved full knowledge of this fundamental constituent of matter and we continue to use it as one of the essential tools at our disposal to continue investigating Nature and its laws.
