By creating a literary space defined by multilingualism and interculturality, the prize exposed the paradox of labeling Through an in-depth analysis of archival material and selected literary works, this book reveals how, within the context of the Chamisso Prize and Chamisso Literature, notions such as mother tongue and foreign language, origin and nationality, foreignness and Germanness become powerful instruments of cultural inclusion and exclusion. and excluding the very authors it sought to integrate.
