This paper describes a methodology for specifying (stable regime) speed-flow function (part of a Stochastic Fundamental Diagram for motorways) consistent with main assumptions of Demand Assignment, and for calibrating the function from observed trajectories. A real case is discussed. The proposed methodology also addresses how to specify speed probability density function (pdf) through a complete statistical analysis and by showing how it can be applied to estimate energy consumption. The proposed methodology can also be applied to analyze mixed traffic as well as speed control policies.

Abstract
This paper describes a methodology for specifying (stable regime) speed-flow function (part of a Stochastic Fundamental Diagram for motorways) consistent with main assumptions of Demand Assignment, and for calibrating the function from observed trajectories. A real case is discussed. The proposed methodology also addresses how to specify speed probability density function (pdf) through a complete statistical analysis and by showing how it can be applied to estimate energy consumption. The proposed methodology can also be applied to analyze mixed traffic as well as speed control policies.File in questo prodotto:
