Having remembered the functions of the school to educate and instruct, the essay, on the basis of the reflections of Giovanni Gentile, contests the idea of "neutral school", considered at least as a contributory cause of the educational emergency underway in Italy, suggesting an overall rethinking of the public school and, at the same time, the full guarantee of freedom of education, as paths consistent with the Constitution, where interpreted in an evolutionary and systematic way, also in light of the express provision in the art. 118, paragraph 4, of the principle of horizontal subsidiarity.
Ricordate le funzioni della scuola di educare e di istruire, il saggio, sulla scorta delle riflessioni di Giovanni Gentile, contesta l’idea di “scuola neutra”, considerata quantomeno come concausa dell’emergenza educativa in atto nel nostro Paese, suggerendo un complessivo ripensamento della scuola pubblica e, nel contempo, la piena garanzia della libertà di educazione, come strade coerenti con la Costituzione, ove interpretata in modo evolutivo e sistematico, anche alla luce dell’espressa previsione nell’art. 118, comma 4, del principio di sussidiarietà orizzontale.
