This paper investigates Simone Weil’s conception of alterity as a central axis of her eth- ical, political, and pedagogical thought. Drawing on her correspondence, philosophical reflections, and readings of classical tragedy – particularly Sophocles’ Electra – the analy- sis illuminates how Weil articulates a non-dialectical approach to otherness grounded in attention, decreation, and the renunciation of ego. Her critique of power, her mystical understanding of justice, and her pedagogical ethos converge in a vision were recognizing the anonymous presence of the other becomes an ethical imperative. Weil redefines sub- jectivity as a space of dispossession, where truth emerges in vulnerability, and responsibil- ity arises from silent, shared suffering.

Abstract
Weil redefines sub- jectivity as a space of dispossession, where truth emerges in vulnerability, and responsibil- ity arises from silent, shared suffering.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
