Italian athletes have participated in all editions of the Summer Paralympics and in almost all those of the Winter Games, making an important contribution to the development of the international Paralympic movement. In Italy, participation in the Paralympics has been useful not only for the spread of sport among people with disabilities, but also for their social inclusion. The path, however, has been fraught with obstacles: for many years the Paralympic Games were almost completely ignored by public opinion and by the media. Moreover, an attitude of pity long prevailed toward people with disabilities. In recent decades, important progress has been made, and today the participation of Italians in the Paralympics arouses much greater attention than in the past. However, not all the obstacles that limit the participation of people with disabilities in sports activities have been overcome.

Abstract
However, not all the obstacles that limit the participation of people with disabilities in sports activities have been overcome.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
